When we are outside at the park the majority of time is spent picking up sticks and rocks. She typically hugs stuffed animals daily. She will sometimes (maybe once a week) feed a doll or pretend to talk on the phone. Pretend play occurs mostly with prompting and on her own terms. She has also pointed to our clothes (mommy and daddy) to grandma when we aren't there and said: "mama" (points to my sweater) and "dada" (poins to his jacket). She will say "porch" when she hears the neighbors outside who she can't see opening up their patio. Also knows many animals for some time now. She knows all of her major shapes and basic colors. She can do one-piece puzzles, shape sorters, and can string beads with ease. 20-minute episodes of covering her eyes on a walk when it isn't bright out. We went to an eye doctor because she was doing it so much at one point. Sometimes when we go outside she'll cover her eyes for a while and then eventually put them back down. She covers her eyes when overstimulated or possibly scared. Indoors and outdoors (shoes or no shoes) she walks on her tippy toes about 1/2 of the day (definitely not exaggerating). She likes to play hide and seek when I model it for her.ĮI thinks she is sensory seeking. She will sit better in the HC is there is fruit in it. We often feed her in our laps to avoid the highchair struggles as suggested by EI. If I say I have to change her diaper she'll run away laughing and say "stinker". Other times I think she thinks it is funny to disobey. We often have to temporarily let her watch elmo to engage in transition. idkĬhanging diapers, sitting in the highchair, and going in the car seat can be difficult for us at least 1/2 of the time.

In general, she is an "on my own terms" kind of toddler, but maybe that's how they are in general. unless I pair it with "do you want to do x,y,z", then if she is interested in that she might respond. Outside she won't respond to her name the majority of the time. I don't really call her name much but if I do inside from a distance I think she'd lookup most of the time unless she is busy.

She doesn't say no or nod for yes or no but we don't really model the latter. She will also say "all done" when finished with her meal or breastfeeding etc. Her requesting is mostly pointing still paired with "yeah". When she just wants me to give her my food. Sometimes she comes up to me and asks for "more" when I haven't given her anything at all. She will request using "more" and "again" but 1/2 of the time I have to give her a reminder that she can use these words. She can often fill in words to a song like the alphabet song or twinkle twinkle little star if I pause and wait for her to finish. Maybe she has used it in one other context but I can't remember. I think that is her only pronoun usage thus far. She seems to have a good memory and we are surprised she knows some of the words she does. She labels items alot throughout the day. I haven't counted the number of words she knows now but it must be at least a couple dozen. Before the language explosion, she knew the entire alphabet and had about 15 words which EI thought was unique. She's had a unique language development and knew the entire alphabet (out of order) about a month or two before she had a language explosion. EI recommended we stay with them until at least 2 years to make sure her development stays on track. She was in EI since 4 months for hypotonia (diagnosed by a neurologist) and a GMD. We had a death in the family and then we were all sick for 2 weeks. My apologies for abandoning the last post. I'm trying to determine if I should schedule an evaluation for my 21-month-old as I've held on to the script for a while now.
